These 8 Businesses are all hiring more employees – and they all share the same marketing secret

While flashy, heavily-funded tech companies seem to grab most of the headlines, small businesses are the backbone of the American economy. According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), small businesses create around two-thirds of jobs, which means that when they grow, America sees reduced unemployment and overall economic expansion.

Since I started PostcardMania in 1998, it’s always been my mission to help other small business owners grow and be as successful as possible. Over the years, I have witnessed a number of them increase their revenue so much to the point of needing to hire more staff. I recently came across the stories of 8 small businesses who were hiring more employees and they all had something in common…

One of the biggest benefits of running a small business is giving back to the community in the form of providing jobs. There is no better feeling than helping people provide for their families and live out their dreams.

Of course in order to make a business grow and create more jobs, business owners have to make generating leads a priority. Gone are the days that simple word of mouth, referrals, or door knocking brings the majority of buyers to your doorstep.

Marketing is the true key to improving lead generation. But you may wonder which strategy is the best?

I want to share the stories of 8 of my small business clients with you so that you can see for yourself exactly what they did to grow enough to have to add more employees…

1. Wok and Run Restaurant: Hired 3 new employees.

Wok and Run Restaurant is an Asian restaurant in Atlanta, GA. They wanted to find a better way to market their restaurant, so they contacted PostcardMania for help with their marketing.

Marketing Plan: Postcards

Postcard Count: 6,000

As a result, 900 people used the postcard coupon in the restaurant and they generated $10,800 in revenue. The owner has had so much business from this postcard that he had to hire 3 more people in the restaurant to accommodate the extra business.

2. Scott’s Iconium Store: Employing 25 summer staff longer.

Scott’s Iconium Store is a unique business that is a hybrid of a restaurant, specialty grocer, and food delivery service, located off of a highway in Osceola, Missouri. They made a goal to increase their in-store traffic and food delivery orders, so they enlisted PostcardMania’s marketing expertise to help accomplish this feat.

Marketing Plan: Everywhere Small Business: An integrated marketing plan that combines direct mail with digital ads on Facebook, Instagram, and Google. The digital ads are coordinated with the direct mail launch dates so that prospects feel like they are seeing your business everywhere and become more motivated to make a purchase.

Postcard Count: 6,000

Digital Advertising: Google, Facebook, Instagram

As a result, 150 people came into his store and redeemed the coupon on the card! He even had one person bring in the postcard and visit 3 times.

Owner Shannon Tucker said: “Our summer season is extremely busy. We employ 25 employees in the summertime. The postcards allowed us to employ local people longer, which helps our community and my store.”

3. Golden Standard Services: Hiring an additional work crew.

Owner William Vinson said, “Since we have been generating more revenue with our postcards, we’ve expanded our marketing budget and plan on hiring another crew to keep up with the new demand.”

4. Nvesterra: Hired 2 new employees and plan to hire 2 more.

Zachary Carver started his own land investment business, Nvesterra, in Edmond, OK. He wanted to increase the amount of his land deals, so he reached out to PostcardMania for help.

Marketing Plan: Letters

Letter Count: 53,773

As a result, they generated $308,000 in revenue! Due to the effectiveness of the letters, he went from making just a couple land deals a month to 11 deals a month.

Owner Zachary Carver said, “The biggest thing that has changed in our business is the ability to project our cash flows better and project our revenue for future growth. Because of that we’ve been able to make two new hires, and we have another two slated for the rest of the year.”

5. Justina’s Hair Gallery: Hired one new full-time stylist.

Jarmon Lawn Care is a landscaping company located in Barnett, MO. They wanted to increase their customers, so they reached out to PostcardMania for marketing assistance.

Marketing Plan: Postcards

Postcard Count: 6,000

As a result, 5 people responded and they converted all of them, generating $10,000 in revenue. This additional business helped them hire 2 more employees to keep up with the additional lawn jobs.

This one sounds bogus to me – can we say that most customers spend X every year – I wouldn’t spend 2gs for lawn care so its comes across as false

7. Golden Mechanical: Hired 2 new employees.
