Gutter Cleaner Website Design Analysis — Tampa, FL

You’ve arrived! It’s Friday and time for your weekly dose of small business website design tips! Here’s what I got for you this week: An analysis of a gutter cleaner’s website. The Gutter Man of Tampa Bay has been providing gutter cleaning and repair services to the Tampa Bay region since 2002, and we’re going to see what we can learn from his website.

My standard website analysis rules apply: there are 5 essentials of business website design that you have to know if you want to turn online prospects into customers. I’ll point them out as I go through the site.

Go through the site with me: gutter-man.com

Design:

Everything about this homepage design works together to help the visitor immediately understand what the Gutter Man does (as though the name of the business wasn’t enough information!). That’s what makes it so good. I mean, just look at it. The logo, the image, the business name, the headline, the offer… everything! This is an excellent example of a homepage with immediacy, a professional design, and effective marketing elements. Speaking of…

GUTTER MAN HOME

Marketing:

There are a number of marketing elements The Gutter Man’s site incorporates well. Here are a few…

1) Web Form – Hands down, the best part of The Gutter Man’s homepage is the lead generation form. With a great offer like “FREE Gutter Inspection & Estimate,” he is maximizing his best opportunity to convert web traffic into prospects.

2) Trust Logos – At the bottom of the page you see icons for Angie’s List and Super Guarantee. The presence of these logos helps prospects to come to a decision by boosting their confidence in the quality of the Gutter Man’s work.

3) Testimonials – What do people trust a lot more than a business’ opinion of itself? The opinions of that business’ clients! Testimonials are the most powerful way to build trust with prospects and should always be included if possible.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization):

SEO is the practice of optimizing your website so that search engines can understand what your website is about and rank it for relevant keywords people might be using to search for sites like yours. The better your SEO, the higher your website ranks for certain keywords. The Gutter Man is targeting phrases like gutter cleaning, repair, and installation along with his service area, Tampa Bay, FL.

Copywriting:

The Gutter Man’s copywriting matches the professional design of the website. It does an excellent job pointing out reasons why The Gutter Man is the superior choice to the competition, highlighting important facts like the company’s experience, success, and knowledge of the community.

Programming:

As many Disney movies have taught us, it’s not enough to look nice on the outside. It’s what’s inside that counts. Professional programming makes your site function as beautifully and it looks, and that is critical to giving prospects a positive impression of your company. The Gutter Man’s programming has got it going on in all the right places – no errors for me as I cruised the site!
