As we’ve discussed in previous posts, email is best used for follow-up with prospects and customers, rather than for lead generation. Here’s a great example of a company who is using creative email address collection strategies.
Anthropologie is “a destination for women wanting a curated mix of clothing, accessories, gifts and home décor that reflects their personal style”. I recently received a catalog from them, and I noticed that inside the catalog they have this clever little tag asking for my email address and giving me reasons why I should give it to them. They tell me that I’m missing out on perks and give me a way to go to a web page, fill in my email, and get all these extra benefits.
What Anthropologie did right here is:
1. They listed specific benefits that I will get by giving my email address. All too often we see people asking for email addresses and offering nothing in return.
2. They gave me an extremely easy way to give my email address by going to the URL provided.
