CEI Environmental Insurance, which specializes in pollution liability, operates out of Richmond, Virginia. They were looking for a creative way to let businesses with underground storage tanks know about their policies so they contacted PostcardMania for help.

The Solution

They decided on a direct mail marketing campaign bundled with Google and Facebook advertising in our Everywhere Small Business package. You can see those advertisements above.   • A headline that immediately communicates the postcard’s message
  • An accompanying picture of underground storage tanks to reinforce the headline’s message

A huge contributor to this campaign’s success was their selected mailing list. They provided a list of petroleum marketers with convenience stores and service stations, most of whom have underground storage tanks. This specificity increased the likelihood that most respondents would be receptive to their offer.

Another reason for their success was their mailing schedule. They send between 200-800 postcards every 2 months to different kinds of petroleum businesses. This consistency ensured a steady trickle of new leads into their agency.

CEI Environmental Insurance average about a 5-10% response rate with their mailings. From those responses, they sign up about 3-5 new accounts a week! At this rate, they’re expecting to generate around $40,000 more in income this year. They’ve only spent $3,294 on the campaign so far, resulting in a 1,114% return on their investment (ROI). In addition, they’ve been SO busy that they’re currently looking to hire another person. The campaign isn’t halfway over yet, so we expect to see even better results soon.
