The Situation
Maurice’s Furnishings is a family owned and operated furniture store located in Jupiter, FL. They opened in 1981 and sell antique furniture and accessories to families in their area. Wendy Jonker and her family got into the business because they love antiques and European handmade furniture, and they wanted to become successful at building and selling pieces.
In the beginning of their business, they tried other forms of marketing like magazines, home shows, and digital advertising, but they were a lot of work. She looked into direct mail because she thought it would be an easy way to notify clients about their bi-annual sales events.
The Solution
PostcardMania designed a 4.25 x 6 inch postcard that included the following features:
- A professional photo of a living room that showcases their furniture and appeals to the recipient
- Large headlines on the front and back of the card advertising a fall sale
- A list of types of furniture on the bottom of the card
Maurice’s Furnishings mailed 10,000 postcards to their own list of customers to advertise upcoming sales events. The cards went out in the month of November.
The Results
They generated 500 responses and $150,000 in revenue!
As a result, Maurice’s Furnishings received 500 responses, they converted 400 of them and generated $150,000 in revenue. Their initial investment on this campaign was $4,953, so their total return on investment amounts to a super-high percentage of 2,928%!
They have been a direct mail marketing client with PostcardMania since 2014, and they have plans to stay consistent with their marketing moving forward.
Wendy said, “I would say to another business owner who is thinking about using direct mail but is on the fence to do it. You need to be consistent, but it works! For me, the consistency really shows because our clients wait to receive the postcard before they come into the store.”
