Maniacs Give Back: Narconon

PostcardMania staff joined together recently to volunteer at Narconon, a rehabilitation center that assists men and women as they overcome drug and alcohol addiction. By supporting the facility with yard work, cleaning, and other routine maintenance, now the Narconon location in Clearwater is ready to help the community with their struggle against addiction.
In 2024, 25% of Americans (70 million people) admitted they use illicit drugs, as reported by the National Survey on Drug Use (NADUH). Drug addiction is a debilitating issue that affects all areas of a person’s life and can lead to death. In 2022, there were 108,490 drug-related deaths according to National Safety Council Data, and since 1999, drug-related deaths increased 494%.
Additionally, alcohol abuse is an enduring threat to the health of millions of people worldwide. Excessive alcohol use was responsible for about 178,000 deaths between 2020 and 2021, and the NSDUH said 29.5 million people over 12 years old had Alcohol Use Disorder in 2022. Currently, 17% of adults binge drink and 7% report heavy drinking.
But there is hope. Since 1966, Narconon — a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program — has been helping people who struggle with drug and alcohol addiction all over the world. Currently operating in 20 different countries, Narconon helps addicts safely withdrawal from drugs and/or alcohol drug-free. Narconon also facilitates programs that teach helpful life skills to help people get back on track and live healthier lives.
Narconon’s mission is to offer a proven path to recovery from drug and alcohol abuse and to help prevent drug-related issues on a global scale.
One of Narconon’s graduates, Dianna, said that she had gone to rehab before, but the Narconon program was the easiest withdrawal she had ever done. After years of being addicted to pain killers, cocaine and other drugs, she is elated to say that she is drug-free and is living a happier and more successful life.
One of the Narconon centers in Clearwater, FL was in need of assistance with cleaning and yard work due to recent staffing challenges that put a strain on their operations. With many employees working extra hours and taking on multiple roles, the facility had been facing significant hurdles.
On July 25, 2024, a team of 22 PostcardMania (PCM) employees stepped up to the plate and tackled a wide range of tasks, including a thorough ceiling-to-floor deep clean inside of the building and essential weeding and landscaping outside.
Norbert Kozman, who works in the IT Department at PostcardMania, said, “Working out in the morning sun for three hours was a grueling task, but my fellow PCM staff made it fun. We came together as a real team to tackle the job. We cleared a whole volleyball court of weeds, power washed a large deck, cut off branches, and mowed the lawn. As a team member at PCM, it was a great opportunity for me to meet and work with others from different departments. I think our team spirit shines through even outside the walls of the company working on these charity projects. Also taking a stand against drug and alcohol addiction and helping to reverse this was very important to me.”
Since these maniacs put in hours of hard work cleaning, the Narconon center is now ready to welcome new residents in the coming weeks who will begin their journey to sobriety and reclaiming their lives.
