JR Fox Jewelry is a family-owned and operated jewelry store in South Bend, Indiana. They wanted to capitalize on the holiday season to get more customers and needed to stand out from the competition.

They decided to promote their sale with a direct mail marketing campaign.
JR Fox Jewelry first teamed up with PostcardMania in 2010 and have used them to do holiday postcard printing and mailing since. So, when this holiday season was getting close, they called their dedicated marketing consultant to set up getting their next postcard designed, printed and mailed to potential customers in the South Bend area.
Their postcard design included:
- A photo of the second & third generations of the Fox family, reinforcing they’re a family-run, local business
- A great discount offer, 30-70% off everything in stock
- A holiday giveaway, which added an incentive for the recipient to save the card and come into the store
Another reason for their success was choosing the right mailing list. As a jewelry retail business, they needed to make sure their flyers would be sent to individuals who could afford their products. One of the advantages of advertising with bulk mail is that it allows one to target a specific audience, for JR Fox Jewelry it was a consumer list of single-family homes with a minimum income of $75,000.00.
The Results
50 responses and 40 of them converted into purchases!
They sent 6,000 mailers to their targeted list; 50 people brought the postcard in and 40 were converted into customers.
