The Situation

The Central Texas Chapter of Independent Electrical Contractors (CenTex IEC), provides electricians with continuing education classes. In the wake of the pandemic, CenTex IEC launched an online version of the courses they offer and needed an effective advertising strategy to increase enrolment.

The Solution

CenTex IEC decided on a direct mail marketing campaign to get the word out to their members.

They were no stranger to the effectiveness of sending flyers to a target audience. CenTex IEC first started working with PostcardMania in 2017 to send bulk mail for their in-person classes and events. Seeing the results from the initial campaign, they continue to send mailers every year.

So, when they needed to promote their online course, they called PostcardMania to design and mail a new postcard for them.

CenTex IEC’s postcard design included:

  • QR code which sent the recipient to the online course
  • Discount offer with promo code to use at checkout
  • Concise headline that communicated the message instantly to the recipient

Another reason CenTex IEC’s campaign was successful, was the application of  The Rule of Repetition. They did four mailings over the year in quantities ranging from 2,059 – 6,000 cards, to a provided list of electricians in their state.

The Results

1,490 new students enrolled which generated around $50,000!

As a result of their mailings last year, they got about 1,490 sign-ups which brought in around $50,000! That’s an ROI of 621%!
