Sheds by Design is a family-owned and locally operated business in Mooresville, NC that designs and sells sheds. They needed a more constant flow of incoming customers, so they started a direct mail marketing campaign with PostcardMania.
Sheds by Design chose a “New in Town” marketing campaign that targets families who have recently moved to the area. PostcardMania automatically sends a personalized postcard to the new resident, welcoming them to the area. The recipient’s first name is on the front of the card to grab their attention and make them feel special.
The New in Town program also uses the National Change of Address database to ensure the mailing list is accurate during every mailing. This list saved them some money and also kept the list of contacts fresh and current.
They decided to mail their postcard monthly to stay consistent and sent out a total of 6,000 6” x 8.5”postcards in batches of about 1,500 to new homeowners.
PostcardMania designers created a mailer that had the following features:
- Three big offers for free delivery up to 30 miles, free concrete blocks included in setup, and $200 off a shed purchase to encourage the prospect to purchase soon
- A picture of the owners to increase the prospect’s trust
- A professional and detailed description of the different types of sheds offered, like a home office or hobby shed, to give the recipient some ideas on how it could meet their needs
For 5 months, new homeowners received these personalized postcards.

Sheds by Design has generated $4,000 in sales but expects even more revenue from the postcards! Their team said they always get more sales and leads every time the mailers go out, and are going to keep sending them for the foreseeable future.
