One postcard featured a large cartoon graphic of a man sweating and looking exhausted. The other featured a large cartoon graphic of a man shivering and looking miserably cold. On the back, both cards laid out what American Home Heating and Air could offer homeowners, such as guaranteed repairs and reduced operation costs for furnaces and air conditioners. Both cards also emphasized a $35 discount on repairs.
American Home Heating and Air is an HVAC company based in St. Charles, MO. They wanted to reach out to their current customers and also homeowners in the local area to remind them to make check-up appointments before the winter and summer, but they needed some fresh HVAC marketing ideas. They consulted with our marketing team to launch a direct mail marketing campaign.
One of American Home Heating and Air’s first direct mail campaigns included mailing 4,000 postcards to their list of current customers. At that time, roughly 8-10% of recipients would call in and make appointments with them. These service calls brought in over $30,000 in revenue.
They continued their postcard marketing and more recently mailed out 6,000 postcards to a consumer mailing list that targeted local homeowners who make $50,000 or more a year and live in homes that were built before 2011.
The 4.25” x 6” card PostcardMania designed for them included the following features:
- A large, bold headline on the front of the card that gets the message across to call them for service
- An offer of $30 off repairs and a 20% discount on Freon, as well as a free estimate on new equipment
- A logo that shows they have been accredited by the Better Business Bureau
- A list of all the benefits the customer will receive by servicing his or her heating/cooling unit
The postcards were mailed seasonally and divided up into two batches in amounts between 2,000-3,000 pieces.
They have generated more than $42,000 in revenue!
American Home and Air’s recent direct mail campaign resulted in 150 responses, they converted all of them and made $12,000 in revenue! Their initial investment was $2,901, so their return on investment comes to 314%. Overall between these two successful marketing campaigns, American Home and Air generated more than $42,000 in revenue.
