The Situation

LJ Refrigeration is a family-owned business that started out in Minnesota in 1969 but moved to Arizona in 1981. Then in 2022, Jennifer Coen and her husband took over the company. Most of their customers have been loyal to the business for over 40 years. To help remind customers of service appointments, Jennifer and her team were making phone call reminders, but this become time-consuming and draining. At one point, Jennifer was calling up to 1,500 people. Then they heard about direct mail and PostcardMania and decided to give it a try.

The Solution

LJ Refrigeration needed a way to remind their 3,000+ customers to schedule routine maintenance on their cooling and heating systems so PostcardMania designed a postcard for them that included these features:

  • A photo of team members and their company van that is instantly recognizable to current customers
  • An uncluttered design that gets right to the point
  • A strong call to action that reminds them to service their HVAC system
  • An offer of a discount on equipment with an expiration date so that customers call back soon

LJ Refrigeration has been routinely mailing out these seasonal postcards twice a year in the spring and the fall. Their recent spring campaign included 3,785 cards, and their fall mailing included 3,800 cards. The postcard was also a larger size of 6 x 8.5 inches, so it stood out in recipients’ mailboxes.

The Results

They generated more than $150,000 in annual revenue!

LJ Refrigeration’s spring campaign resulted in more than 950 responses and generated more than $100,000. Their fall campaign was also very successful and generated more than 425 responses and more than $43,000. Together, these direct mail campaigns generated an annual revenue of $150,000-$200,000!

As an added bonus, Jennifer and her team didn’t have to spend time making phone calls anymore and their customers reported that they preferred the postcards. Their customers even said they look for it in the mail and even share it with their friends and family, creating word of mouth which is fantastic for getting new business too.
