Eventually some of these companies will become household names, such as Inc. 500 alumni Microsoft and Oracle, but thus far most of the private companies that have grown the fastest since 2001 have been flying under the radar of the mainstream business press. What it does: Prints, and in some cases designs, postcards and brochures for direct marketers.
Why its growing: It uses the product. PostcardMania sends out 76,000 postcards a week on its own behalf. It spends an additional $7,000 a week on search engine marketing. To spread the word further, founder Joy Gendusa is writing a book on how to run a successful postcard marketing campaign.
Ride the tiger: The housing boom has inspired mortgage brokers to spend more aggressively on marketing campaigns. In recent years they have composed more than a third of PostcardMania’s client base.
