Let Loose for Literacy
On October 1, PostcardMania, a Clearwater based company, is hosting a charity casino night to help support the Community Learning Center (CLC). The event, Let Loose for Literacy, will help the CLC fix up their new homea larger building to help tutor many more children in our community!
The CLC started as a small location in Clearwater and has since multiplied into a network of affiliate organizations throughout the state of Florida. The CLCs mission is to create success stories for students in Florida communities by providing them with quality tutoring in reading, writing and study skills. The new location will become a community center as well as a tutoring center.
Our goal is to raise a childs reading level to above their grade. We strive to provide trained and inspirational tutors for a fun, effective learning environment. Together, we dream of a brighter future for our children, says Holly Haggerty, Executive Director of the Community Learning Center.
Entry to the event is $15 and includes complimentary Hors Doeuvres and a cash bar. The poker tournament will feature 2005 World Series of Poker Champion Jon Heneghan and costs $100 to enter. There are only 150 seats available in the tournament and the top ten finishers will receive a prize.
