Help outside the box II: Postcard marketing expert sends more help to hurricane victims via Scientologists
Clearwater, Florida, October 07, 2005 — Postcard Marketing Expert, Joy Gendusa, sends her next wave of support to the victims of Hurricane Katrina by providing her company’s box truck filled to the brim with supplies, clothes, food, diapers, etc. donated by local businesses, local residents and her employees. Two staff from her business, PostcardMania (www.postcardmania.com), volunteered to go as Volunteer Ministers of The International Scientology Disaster Response Team (ISDRT) and deliver the goods to the evacuees at shelters located in Mississippi.
After raising $4000.00 between her 100 employees in 1 hours for the Katrina evacuees and sending 4 of her staff to Louisiana to volunteer at local shelters, Joy Gendusa and her team of executives decided that their next phase was to round up supplies badly needed in those areas and provide the means to get them there. With help from local Scientology Volunteer Ministers of the International Scientology Disaster Response Team, PostcardMania was able to deliver a truck full of supplies to those areas in need.
The Volunteer Ministers of ISDRT are known for their help at Ground Zero during 9-11, their assistance in clean-up and aid after the Tsunami, and have been a major force in the relief efforts for every hurricane to hit Florida in the last three years. These Volunteer Ministers are from all walks of life and professions traveling across the world to give help to the government relief projects that are already over-taxed. Several of Joy’s staff are volunteer ministers of The ISDRT.
There were thousands of people that were being helped, said Joe Custer, employee of PostcardMania. I personally helped feed 2,000 people three times a day. There were thousands of people out there in private churches and private groups-living with people. There were hundreds of animals that were being helped as well. It was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever gone through and the gratitude from all the people we helped was overwhelming.
Joe was one of several other PostcardMania employees that took a 10 day sabbatical to go to Louisiana to help out. Joy Gendusa made sure that all her staff that volunteered were paid their wages for the time that they were away from work.
