Ask Joy Gendusa: Door Hanger Critique

Just wanted to share a critique I was recently asked to do:

“Dear Andrew,

In terms of the colors I find it a bit hard to instantly read. It’s not bad but it also is not the most professional design. This can work in your favor though, depending on the types of jobs you are trying to get. If the doors you are hanging these on are middle class homes than this design is good (but with better color choices so the communication is instant) but if you are putting these on higher end homes the design needs reworking to portray what these folks are used to. You always have to think with who is viewing the piece and what is their reality. I would have liked to see the back of the door hanger too. You have a good opportunity to capture the interested folks there as well.
