I know, I know…

Why am I talking about the fourth quarter when we’re only just settling into the third?

Because while we want to put every quarter in the “win” column, the fourth is especially important. A strong fourth quarter can bring your profits to record highs and create momentum that will carry into the following year!

And you know what they say:

Fail to plan, plan to fail…

So don’t wait for the leaves to start turning — start planning NOW!

I’ll help:

Here are 4 ideas for starting the final quarter of 2017 (I honestly can’t believe I’m already typing that) with a bang!

1. Help your prospects and customers prepare for fall.

While “winter” is a long way away for us here in Florida, cooler weather is looming in the near future for many parts of the country. This gives many industries a lot of marketing ammunition!

Smart HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) companies capitalize on the upcoming weather change by marketing heating system checkups to help their prospects and customers be prepared for the cold.

Like these guys:

Likewise, pool companies can promote winterizing services to help their customers protect their pools from the winter chill.

You get the idea…

If your customers are affected by the change in weather, you can promote to them with a specific message about how you can help!

Same goes if your ideal prospects have kids who are heading back to school.

For example, if you offer after-school activities like:

  • Martial arts
  • Gymnastics
  • Dance
  • Tutoring

You should be working on a fall marketing campaign NOW.

2. Leverage the holidays for more sales.

There are several holidays and events coming up that you can create promotions around to generate more sales:

  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Halloween
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Black Friday & Cyber Monday

Everybody loves a great deal, and you can almost always find a way to tie in your special offer to an upcoming holiday!

Here’s an example from a medical spa that used a general “beautiful skin for the holidays” message:

It’s not the most exciting postcard design (for one thing, I’d like to see the call to action stand out a LOT more, in a bright, contrasting color), but they have the right idea!

3. Promote your business through community involvement.

Fall is a fun, activity-filled season in many communities, with pumpkin patches, carnivals, fall festivals and the like.

Be a part of the action by offering to sponsor a festival!

Or if you’re feeling ambitious, you could even host your own fall event to get the attention of local media and generate buzz for your business!

It doesn’t take much time to look up local events and see what is needed — in fact, oftentimes the folks running these events will come to you!

Check out the events listings for these cities and see if you get any ideas:

On a smaller scale, you could also reach out to local schools to see if they need any sponsors for their fall festivities.

4. Bring in a steady stream of leads with regular mailings.

The best way to generate big, predictable results is with consistent postcard marketing.

Of course, that goes for the WHOLE YEAR…

But the holidays provide a special opportunity to connect with your prospects and customers on a more personal level.

Whether you simply add a seasonal flourish to your postcard design or send holiday greeting cards like the one above to your customers, postcards keep you top of mind when they need what you offer!
