I’m your host Shannon Johnson (PostcardMania’s Web Design Specialist), and my next analysis comes from the dental industry. The business, Vista Hills Family Dental, is located in El Paso, TX.

This site has a great look. It’s much more visually aesthetic than most dental websites you’ll see. It uses a vibrant green as a background, which has slight diagonal stripes to give it some texture. The stripes fade out towards the bottom of the page to a solid green background. This is a cool design tactic to create an engaging appearance for their site. They also added a flowing graphic and some water drops to the background to add even more texture to the top of the page. A few great pictures fill out the design, and make it even more friendly and engaging.
There are a few great marketing strategies in play on this website. Here are 3 of my favorites:
1) Social Media Link — They place a button on the homepage to guide visitors to their Facebook page. This is a great move, because it gives them the opportunity to connect relationally with website visitors, which creates additional future opportunities to convert them into customers.
2) Great Slogan — Vista Hills Family Dental places a slogan to the right of their banner image. It reads, “Where you are seen at your appointment time!” This is great way of showing prospects what sets them apart from their competition. Most of us have experienced the frustration of making appointments with dentists or doctors only to have to wait around after you arrive on time for your appointment. This slogan shows right upfront that Vista Hills values their customers’ time, and sees them right away. No more waiting. It’s a very persuasive marketing message.
3) Excellent Pictures — This dental practice includes a bunch of pictures in their website. They include a picture on the homepage with the main dentist professional, Jose Alvarez, and his family. This helps add a human connection with visitors right off the bat. They include a picture of each dentist at Vista Hills on the About Us page, as well as numerous visual representations of dental services, which help prospects know exactly what to expect. That makes them more comfortable with calling to make an appointment.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization):
SEO is the practice of optimizing the copy on your website so that search engines can understand what your website is about and how they should rank it for particular keywords. This website is optimized for keywords like “Family Dentistry,” which helps them show up in their prospects’ Google searches for the family dentistry services they offer.
The best word to describe the copy on this site is “professional.” They get right down to explaining how they can help their prospects. It is evident from the copy that these dentists have a lot of expertise. They are very knowledgeable, and use the copy to educate prospects of the preventative measures needed to ensure optimum dental health. Then, they describe how they can fix dental issues if symptoms are already present. This builds trust and credibility first, then offers the sales opportunity after, and it’s a great marketing strategy.
The site is fairly simple. It just has a few pages, but they incorporate videos, images and a great FAQ page that allows you to click on just the question you want to read. All of these features work great, and I noticed no glitches. You can’t ask for more than that.
