Freshen Up Your Postcard Marketing (Part 3 of 3): Affordable Upgrade Options

In the first two posts of this series on how to freshen up your postcard marketing and get a better response, I talked about the importance of landing pages and a professionally designed logo. Step 3 is affordable postcard upgrade options. These are special additions you can add to your postcards in order to increase the return on investment.

At PostcardMania, we offer 3 additional postcard options to our clients… sticky notes, magnets, and scratch-off offers. Each of these options make your postcards more engaging or more relatable in some way.

Let’s look at each one and see what they can do for your business…

1.) Sticky Notes
It is a beautifully simple idea. Just add a Post It® note to your postcards with a personalized message. We can print a quick message on a sticky note that is designed to stick to your cards all the way to the mailbox. We have seen incredible response increases simply by adding this note. It gives a more personal touch, and grabs the attention of your prospects. This addition only costs a few cents per card.

2.) Magnetized Postcards
The Direct Marketing Association has shown that a postcard with an attached magnet is read 52% more often than a postcard without a magnet. And what’s more, adding a magnet to a postcard can increase response rates by over 73%. Adding the magnet means your prospect can see your card, become interested, and stick it right on the fridge. They will see it over and over again. This makes them more likely to become your customer, and magnets are also only a few cents per card extra.

3.) Scratch-Off Offers
Everyone wants to be a winner. Everyone wants to feel lucky. By adding a scratch-off offer to your cards, you give prospects both these feelings This makes them more likely to respond to your cards. Your cards immediately grab their attention and bring excitement, because they don’t know what they may win. They are also more likely to redeem the offer you choose to feature, because they feel like they have won an exclusive deal. It’s a great way to bring excitement to your cards, and increase responses.

What do you think of the upgrade options? Would you be more likely to respond to a card that features one of these? Let’s talk about it in the comments…

Best,
Joy

  1. Sydney says:

I think all three are excellent but I think the best is probably the scratch-off one. People love to win. This psychologically sounds the most powerful – far more so than a free gift.

  2. The prize or give-a-way really depends on the industry of course. For example, a landscaping company could offer a free mow as a scratch-off “prize”, a salon could offer 20% off services, etc.
