I got this great marketing email the other day, and it reminded me of a good marketing tip that I want to share with you. One of the best things you can do as a marketer is always be on the lookout for a marketing opportunity. And I don’t mean a chance to exploit something for your own profit. I mean a genuine situation where you can reach someone who needs or wants your product at a time where they will be super receptive to your message. Case in point, the email I got below…
This company, ULine, saw the news about the flooding in central Florida due to Tropical Storm Debbie (which has really been intense!), and they saw a genuine opportunity to present those who needed their product (sandbags) with information about them and a chance to buy them. Brilliant!
If you are in an industry where weather affects the need/desire for your products or services — keep an eye on the sky (and the weather channel)! You just might find some genuine marketing opportunities, and those are precious in this day and age of marketing overload.
If the weather means nothing to your business, the principle still applies. Keep an eye out for marketing opportunities. There are more of them than you would think. It just takes a vigilant eye to spot them.

Be watchful and be rewarded,
